My First Purse Pattern

I admit it, I love purses and may have a few... but always seem to find just one more that I need.  My son's fiance had found a purse this summer that she loved and I had material for the same style but could not find a similar pattern, so I took a deep breath AND made my own pattern!
I wanted to add some more interest to the sides and instead of one panel, divided it into three pieces and a yoke. I made the yoke a smaller width then the bottom half so I would have to gather it, which I thought would add some more texture to the outside as well as adding more room to the inside of the bag.
I have not quite yest mastered the the whole zipper thing, so I added a flap and button for a closure...
The inside is line with a bright red material and I did take the leap and put a zipper on the inner pocket and I did not have to rip it and and do it over, got it on the first try!  However, I have no pics to show you of this since my camera battery died!

One other thing that you cannot see, I added interfacing to the top yoke, just to add some structure to the opening.  I decided not to add it to the "body" of the bag, as this design really does not have a lot of structure to it intentionally, but I am thinking a light weight interfacing might have worked
All and all, I love the way it turned out. It actually looks like I had pictured in my mind!!  Would anyone be interested in a pattern?  I was thinking of adding some pdf files for followers, let me know what you think!

Very cool June! I think it came out great. I like the look of the flap/tab closure as it works well with the center panel and overall shape of the bag. I'm not a fan a fan of installing recessed zippers--pattern or no--so I can sympathize with you. Just as well because the tab closure looks very nice.
