Time to bust out those projects that I have been wanting to do and get them done! I have seen shutters used around many blogs for many different things. You can use them for headboards, mantles, decorate for seasons, holidays and hang various items. I sort of have a thing for dangly ear rings and have issues with finding a pair easily. Necklaces get tangled, time lapses.. I am late for work. So I decided to use my shutter to display and organize some of my jewelery!
I found a pair of shutters at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store for $2.50 and used one so a whopping $1.25 invested..
I sort of have a thing for spray paint and had this left over from another project I had over estimated the amount on. So left over paint, maybe 1/3 of a can for 2 coats maybe $1
Coat 1..
and coat 2....
Do you like my white paper? When I moved onto a farm 4 years ago there was a roll of white paper and I use it for EVERYTHING!!!!! I am thankful there is a lot left. Makes it easy for clean up, packing and all sorts of things...
Anyway, next I got my handy dandy glaze. Again, left over from a kitchen cabinet redo. Used about 2 tbsp(?) I am guessing. I have used this on may things and still have over half left!
I actually had some curtain hooks, paid a whopping $0.97 for the package and used about half so I will say $0.50 in all. I placed them at the bottom of the shutter, the middle towards the center and the top on the outside. These were to hang my necklaces. Since I did not want them to move around I glued the backs with my handy dandy hot glue gun. I also glues the thingy bob in the center (that is a technical construction term!) that opens and closes the shutter. Did not want it to move later on and dump everything to the floor!
I hung this on the wall in my bathroom so everything would be handy when I was getting ready...
See the hooks?
After it was up, just had to decide how to organize the pretties!
See? easy as pie! And are you ready for the grand total cost... wait for it....$2.75! Now I have no excuse for being late to work!!
